 Philosophy Department
Philosophy Department Officially decided by the presidency of Koya University, the department of philosophy was opened as a branch of Koya University in 2005. This was the first step into the void of philosophy in Kurdistan region, thus making the department an academic department in the university-with the hope of active participation in establishing a civilized society and finding proper solutions to the societal problems. Fortunately, the department is now linked to the University of Raparin, within the Faculty of Basic Education and Humanities Science/ School of Humanities Science. For the last four academic years, the department-as the whole university-has worked on an annual educational system, in which the graduates will hold a bachelor degree in Philosophy. Socialist instructors started teaching in the department in 2005-2006, and the department has now seven enrolled instructors four of whom are now doing their PHD certificates in Baghdad and Salahadeen universities. Besides, some lecturers are brought elsewhere to give lectures. Kurdish is the main language, but of course Arabic and English languages are given special importance and are in focus for many instructors. Aims of philosophy Department: 1. Philosophy Texts in English 8. Research Methodology Third Grade: 1. History of New-to-Niche Philosophy 2. Islamic Philosophy in East 3. Aesthetics 4. Philosophy of Moral 5. Philosophy of History 6. Philosophy of Language 7. Science of Methods 8. Theory of Knowledge Fourth Grade: 1. Contemporary Philosophy 2. Islamic Philosophy in West 3. political Philosophy 4. Sophism 5.
