Virginia Tech program helping strengthen universities in Iraqi Kurdistan

When a group of university administrators and faculty members from Iraq’s northern Kurdish region left home to study at Virginia Tech this summer, the area was at peace. But by the time the 14 educators arrived in Blacksburg, fighters with the Islamic State had unexpectedly taken aim at the region’s capital and more than 1,700 people had been killed

University of Raparin holds its third graduation ceremony

University of Raparin is holding its third graduation ceremony on 26/10/2014 at Faculty of Humanities at new campus in Rania, and at Faculty of Education in Qaladize.

The Erasmus Mundus “Marhaba” Project was launched in the University of Santiago de Compostela

The project has been sponsored by the European Commission with a total of €2,394,050 of funding having been allocated to see the project through. The aim of “Marhaba” is to develop collaboration between university students and staff of the European Union and Iraq/Iran.

National Ranking Project for Universities in Kurdistan

On November 2nd, 2014 Dr. Usif Goran, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, chaired a meeting at the ministry’s office in Erbil regarding the national ranking project for the universities in the Kurdistan region.

University of Raparin delay the second trial examinations

On August 26th2014, Raparin University Council with the support of the ministry order on (1019) made a university order as to the second trial examinations in which it was approved to defer the second trial exams to September 18th, 2014 .

Iraqi Kurds in Virginia

 A group of Academics from Kurdistan, visiting Virginia Tech for 3 weeks this month, has watched from afar as their homeland faces attack by ISIS militants.
The group is here studying higher education practices and principles in order to bring them back to their home universities. It’s funded by the U.S. State Department and the Iraqi Embassy. When they left home, Kurdistan was in peace.
