University of Raparin Joins Erasmus Mundus-Action 2-Marhaba Program Funded by European Commission –Head by Spain- University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain
Headed by the University of Santiago de Compostela, after preparing and submitting a proposal to participate in Marhaba program which is similar to Salam program funded by European Union, the University of Raparin obtained the program acceptance. Marhaba is a for years program, starting from 2014 to 2018 including these countries ( Spain, Iraq, Britain, Portugal, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Poland and two other academic partners ( Arab union universities and the group of Santiago de Compostela universities).
In order to develop the relationship between both sides, on June 1, 2014 his Excellency MR Joseph Benicton, the US Consul General in Erbil and Andy Hallus, the Cultural Affairs Officer at the Consulate visited University of Raparin in which they had a meeting with University president and the university council.
At the end of an English language course at university of Raparin, on 18/5/2014 Directorate of Language and Development Center set up a graduation ceremony for the English language course participants .
The participants were given an English language certificate which is an obligatory requirement to study Master degree at Iraqi universities .
It is worth mentioning that the course started on 14/11/2013 in which (8) teachers, including natives, and (147) learners participated. The course ended on 14/5/2014. The Directorate of language and Development center declares that the enrolment for next course is starting on 1/6/2014 .
Under the title of (the current situation and future strategic plan of university of Raparin) The university held its first strategic conference in Rania public library in which a (5) years plan was discussed.
On Monday 14/4/2014 the conference started with the attendance of administrative and teaching staff of university of Raparin .
University of Raparin takes part in IREX program” KRUPP” Kurdistan Rural University Partnership Program, first workshop in Erbil
On Monday 6/1/2014 the IREX program for the three selected universities in Kurdistan region started

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is pleased to announce that applications are currently being accepted for the 2014 MEPI Student Leaders Program. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State and supports the goals of the U.S. – Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement. It is a six-week academic summer program in the United States and will take place from June 25 – August 7, 2014
A delegation from IREX headed by Lori Mason the manager of the organization’s projects in Iraq which is mainly specified for rural universities including, University of Raparin, Halabja and Zaxo were selected by the organization to work on a project called “development of teacher’s capacity, methods of teaching and ways of doing research” as well as promoting university curriculum in addition to management methods.
During the organization’s meeting with the University of Raparin’s president and a specialized staff they talked about their future plan related to working on the project for the academic year 2014.This organization aims to develop curriculum, human capacity and making relationships between American and Kurdish universities.
